Naharkatiya MLA Taranga Gogoi's Mother no more

NAHARKATIA/NAMRUP: Sashi Prabha Gogoi (60), a social worker based in Naharkatia Kachari gaon who was the mother of Naharkatiya MLA Taranga Gogoi, died at 3.40 pm on Sunday. She was suffering from a terminal illness. She was admitted to the Brahmaputra Nursing Home in Dibrugarh on December 29 after her health deteriorated. She had earlier undergone treatment in a private hospital in Mumbai in May last year.

Sashi Prabha Gogoi was born at Lengeri, Dibrugarh in 1961 and later married Luson Gogoi, a well-known businessman of Naharkatiya.

She is survived by her husband, son Taranga, daughter-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law and granddaughter.

Minister Bimal Bora, Assam Petrochemical Limited Chairman Bikul Chandra Deka also expressed sorrow at her demise. Others who offered their condolences included BJP District President Jagdish Rajkonwar, Naharkatiya and Jaipur Mandal Presidents Gokul Bora and Mridul Kalita, Naharkatiya Press Club and Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad, Naharkatiya Regional Committee.
